Admission Process

Admission to Chicago Hope Academy is based on four things:

1. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION PACKET
The parent and student will fill out all portions of application and submit to CHA.

2. RECOMMENDATION FORMS
Two recommendations are required for each applicant. One recommendation form is to be completed by the head of school or guidance counselor at the student’s current school. The second recommendation form is to be filled out by a teacher who has had this student for at least one marking period. The recommendation forms must be accompanied by the student's grade school transcripts/report card. These recommendations will help CHA evaluate both the student’s academic success and the student’s character and self-control within the classroom.

3. PRELIMINARY TESTING
CHA will administer the Sholastic Testing Service's High School Placement Test (HSPT). Once the admissions office has received the completed admission application and student questionaire, the student will be contacted to sign up for a testing date. All applicants are required to take this test in order to be considered further for acceptance. The results of these tests will NOT affect the student's chance for admission unless the student's academic abilities or disabilities cannot be met by CHA.

4. FAMILY INTERVIEW
This is the most critical phase of the admissions process. After evaluating the application form and recommendation forms, the admissions coordinator will schedule a meeting with the prospective student and his/her family. Through this process, the admissions coordinator is looking for the student’s leadership potential, personal desire to attend CHA, and willingness to work hard once admitted.

The admissions coordinator will also question the parents to determine the level of family support and willingness to contribute financially, even if limited. The admissions coordinator will submit either recommendation for admission or recommendation for non-admission to the admissions committee.
